Job Summary

This cook’s position will primarily will be stationed at the satellite location on campus. This position requires line cook and/or wood fired pizza experience. The Cook B will need to have Serve Safe Certification, understand the basics of cooking, and a friendly disposition.

 

Job Duties

  • 20% - Keeps all items for assigned station prepped, rotated and stocked. Displays accountability for job requirements and positively embraces changing business needs. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Cooks working at the Grill Station insures quality product. Maintains health code standards of temperatures on all perishable items. Prepares all order per customers request in the cleanest, accurate and timely fashion. Maintain all food standards set by Manager. - (Essential)
  • 20% - When assigned to the Pizza Station, properly clean out the ashes, light and bring the oven up to temperature. Maintain all ingredients and make sure food is properly rotated - (Essential)
  • 5% - Maintain all health code standards at all times. Washes hands after handing food with potential food borne illnesses. Keeps uniforms and aprons clean and free of raw food particles. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Handles all interactions with student workers in the most professional manner. Handles all interactions with all customers graciously and professionally. Reports all incidence with reporting supervisor immediately. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Ensure all equipment is in working order, clean, sanitized and well maintained. Constantly check to ensure refrigeration and freezer equipment is maintaining temperature. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Willingness to support other kitchens on campus as needed. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Performs other duties as assigned. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Keep personal appearance and hygiene up to department standards at all times. Maintains personal lockers with college standards. Wear assigned uniforms and shoes for all shifts. - (Essential)

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years in high volume cooking and catering operation.
  • Read, write and speak English as well as be able to converse fluently.
  • Must be highly knowledgeable of kitchen sanitation and safety procedures. ServeSafe Certification (or equivalent food safety certification) is required and must be maintained at all times.
  • Must be familiar with special diets and common food allergies, and well versed in methods of servicing customers with these special needs.
  • Must be able to organize one’s self and others, and work with speed and efficiency in a clean manner.
  • Must be a task-oriented person with the ability to plan and execute responsibilities from start to finish.
  • Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds and be able to tolerate the physical requirements of frequent walking, extended standing, bending and repetitive motion.
  • Requires the ability to work effectively with a diverse work force and customer base.
  • Must be highly motivated and solution oriented with a high degree of integrity, ethics and dedication to the mission of the College.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Culinary Degree or a combination of culinary education and significant volume cooking experience.

 

EXPECTED HIRING RANGE: The starting base hourly rate for this position is $19.46/hr. After 6 months, the base hourly rate increases to $19.84/hr, and after 12 months, the base hourly rate increases to $20.31hr. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package.
