Job Summary
Reporting to the Dean of Admission, the Enrollment Communications Manager leads the development and execution of strategic communications that support student recruitment, admission, and enrollment goals. The Enrollment Communications Manager will manage multi-channel communications initiatives throughout the enrollment lifecycle, ensuring prospective students receive timely, relevant, and engaging information. Working closely with Admission and marketing leadership, the Manager oversees communication campaigns, admission web content, social media, and CRM driven outreach to enhance the prospective student experience. The Enrollment Communications Manager collaborates with campus partners to ensure communications are timely, coordinated, and student-centered.
Job Duties
- 30% - Enrollment Communications Campaign Execution - Lead the development, execution, and ongoing optimization of segmented communication campaigns within Slate to support recruitment, application completion, admission, yield, and onboarding objectives. Manage the Implementation of enrollment communication strategies in partnership with Admission and Enrollment Marketing leadership, ensuring alignment with institutional enrollment goals. Analyze engagement data to refine messaging, audience targeting, timing, and effectiveness across the student lifecycle. Collaborate with campus partners to develop and coordinate communications that support key admission initiatives. - (Essential)
- 20% - Social Media and Student Content Management - Manage the strategic direction and day-to-day operation of the Office of Admission’s social media channels, with a primary focus on Instagram and platforms relevant to prospective students. Develop and oversee a content calendar that supports recruitment, admission, yield and enrollment objectives. Supervise and mentor student content creators, providing guidance on content development, brand standards, and audience engagement. Partner with Enrollment Marketing to ensure social media content aligns with institutional messaging, campaign priorities, and brand guidelines. Manage student content initiatives that show authentic student experience across blogs, social media, and other digital platforms. Lead the development of authentic, student-centered content that supports recruitment and yield objectives. Oversee content quality and ensure alignment with institutional messaging, brand standards and enrollment priorities. - (Essential)
- 15% - Communication Calendar and Campaign Planning - Manage the development and maintenance of event portals, registration forms, and automated communications in Slate. Manage communication workflows for on- and off-campus events, including confirmations, reminders, and follow-ups communications. Support virtual event execution, including Zoom setup and communication scripts, as needed. Ensure accuracy, functionality, and consistency across CRM-driven communications. - (Essential)
- 15% - Website Content Management - Manage Admission and New Student website content, ensuring it is current and aligned with institutional communication needs and enrollment priorities. Oversee accuracy, clarity, and consistency across key pages. Coordinate website updates in response to evolving communication needs and enrollment priorities. - (Essential)
- 15% - Application Review and Administrative Support - Evaluate first year and transfer applications as part of the admission process. Support documentation of admission team Meetings, including distribution of notes. Build and maintain relationships with campus partners to support content and communication efforts. Document staff meeting discussions. - (Essential)
- 5% - Print & Collateral Coordination - Oversee inventory of admission print materials and promotional items. Coordinate reprints and updates with the Office of Marketing & Communications. Review materials for accuracy and alignment with current messaging. - (Essential)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience of education and experience.
- Three years of professional experience in communications, marketing, or a related field.
- Experience developing and executing email or digital communication campaigns using a CRM or marketing automation platform.
- Experience collaborating across teams to support communications or marketing initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and timelines in a fast-paced environment. Strong writing and editing skills, with experience developing digital content and ability to adapt messaging for different audiences and channels.
- Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and thorough; skilled at anticipating and preventing potential problems and handling a wide variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy.
- Strong commitment to a quality work product.
- Demonstrated skill in adapting to and performing work effectively in high-volume, high accountability, confidential environment with multiple and changing priorities.
- Effective organizational, logistical, time management and planning skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks/projects simultaneously, prioritize and fulfill the functions of an office in a timely manner.
- Ability to self-motivate and work independently.
- Ability to provide effective leadership and training, and to work effectively and professionally across functions, disciplines, levels, and with diverse groups.
- Familiarity with digital tools and platforms, including CRM systems, content management systems, social media channels.
- Basic design skills for digital content creation using tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, or similar platforms.
- Basic technical aptitude and willingness to learn new systems, including CRM platforms and HTML.
- Proficiency with standard office and productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace)
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and working with diverse communities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five years of professional experience in communications, marketing, or a related field.
- Experience with Slate by Technolutions or a similar CRM platform.
- Experience in higher education, admissions, or student-facing communications. Familiarity with social media content planning and basic website content management (CMS).
EXPECTED HIRING RANGE: $70,304/yr-$75,000/yr
If you are offered this position at Occidental College, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, experience, and/or geographic location. In addition to those factors, Occidental complies with applicable pay equity laws and considers internal equity among current employees when developing the final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package.
