Job Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, the board-certified athletic trainer will assist with executing the duties and responsibilities of providing exceptional medical services for approximately 450 student-athletes who participate in 20 NCAA Division III intercollegiate sports teams in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC). These duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, designing and implementing effective and high-quality programs for the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of student-athlete injuries and illnesses.

 

Job Duties

  • 50% - Design and implement effective and high-quality programs for the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of student-athlete injuries and illnesses, including but not limited to: apply protective taping, bracing, and padding for student-athletes; educate and counsel student-athletes about their injuries and illnesses; execute the daily operations in the athletic training room and the services provided by the sports medicine staff. - (Essential)
  • 30% - Execute administrative duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: maintain timely and accurate documentation relating to student-athlete medical records, sports medicine services, and athletic training room functions; coordinate and process insurance claims related to intercollegiate injuries; coordinate referrals to appropriate medical providers and specialists; communicate and collaborate effectively and professionally with sports medicine staff, team physicians, coaches, administrators, and other Athletics department staff; provide timely updates to coaches regarding the status on, and treatment plans for, student-athletes; ensure the maintenance of the athletic training room; including cleaning, disinfecting, and organizing all equipment, tools, and furnishings; manage inventory. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Provide medical services, including urgent and emergency care, during practices and competitions. - (Essential)

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field to position duties or equivalent combination of education and
    experience.
  • Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) through the Board of Certification, with current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification upon hire or within six months.
  • Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to implement the theories, principles, practices, and techniques of injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google drives/folders/forms, Adobe Acrobat, Web Editing, and social media applications or any combination of productivity programs applicable to position responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and thorough; skilled at anticipating and preventing potential problems and handling a wide variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in athletic training, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, or related field.
  • One year of collegiate athletic training experience.

 

EXPECTED HIRING RANGE:  $43.00/hr
